Are you tired of being tired? Do you wake up each day with energy and purpose? Or do you hit the snooze alarm 10 times before you finally drag yourself out of bed?
How would you like your day to begin? Believe it or not, much of this is within your control. As you read on, you’ll find some ways that will work for you. There are many contributing factors for lacking energy. Let’s see where you fit in.
Employ the “5 Second Rule”.
There is actually a great book about this rule written by Mel Robbins. It’s a great read and can impact several areas of your life, but for right now, let’s just focus on getting out of bed! The 5 second rule put simply is that you give yourself only 5 seconds to lay there when the alarm goes off, and then you “hop” out of bed. This may look more like dragging, but hey, one step at at time, right?!
Here’s the thing though…when you train yourself that no matter what, when you count down that 5 seconds, you’ll be surprised how quickly the tired starts to go away. Start MOVING…walk to the bathroom, walk into the kitchen and get a cup of water, or stand and stretch. You get the idea. Moving is the key here. This can have a dramatic affect on your “tired of being tired”. It’s a game changer, promise!
Tired of being tired? Drink up!
I mentioned walking into the kitchen or other room to get a drink of cool water. This one has a few benefits. 1… it gets you moving, 2…it helps you to start to hydrate your body after several hours of rest, and 3…brings oxygen and minerals into the blood-stream. This can help with circulation (which has also been stimulated into action by moving) and provides support to your body’s systems. Getting the water flowing lets your body know its time to get up and get into gear. This is also great for helping with appetite control and a smart thing to do if you work out in the mornings. Hydration is key to ending your tired of being tired way of life.
You want to really kick this up a notch? Add a drop of lemon essential oil to boost energy, flush toxins and boost mood. This is a good thing for the morning! Or try Slim and Sassy blend essential oil (curbs carb cravings, boosts energy and revs metabolism). Just a drop or two can really make a difference!
Getting those ZZZ’s
Here’s one where you might be tempted to think there is no help for you being “tired of being tired”. For some of us, getting adequate rest is easier said than done. If you struggle with getting a good nights sleep, watch for my upcoming post next week on “Getting the Rest You Need”. Here’s a sneak peak at what you’ll learn: Great roller-ball recipe to help promote a great night sleep. Diffuser options, linen sprays, essential oils that promote rest and relaxation with no side effects or addictions. Tips on reducing exposure to blue light and more.
For now, try this tip. Put a few drops of lavender essential oil mixed with Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) and swipe under nose. Then rub across shoulders and on back of the neck near the brain stem. After that, rub some on the bottoms of your feet and massage your ear lobes. Breathe deeply as you do this and you’ll be amazed at how much of your tension will melt away. Keep the TV off and either read a book to continue to wind down, or just turn off the light and focus on breathing deeply. Strive for between 7-8 hours of rest each night. Let me know how it works for you!
Tired of being tired? Try These Energizing Essential Oils…
You might be surprised how much these natural gifts of the earth can make a difference for you. When I’m “tired of being tired”, I try some of these great combos!
Did you know essential oils are non-addictive too, and have no side-effects? Other than you might fall in love with them, that is. Great essential oils for helping you to have more energy are many of the mint oils, like peppermint, spearmint, rosemary (yep its a mint), and wintergreen.
One of my favorite pick-me-ups, especially during the 3 o’clock drag, is peppermint and wild orange mixed together. I just rub them together in my hands and then I inhale them. They smell so good, and if I inhale with my mouth open, I really get a blast of coolness that is exhilarating! I rub the rest on the back of my neck for a cooling, stimulating effect as well. Try a drop of peppermint oil, or better yet a peppermint beadlet in your mouth for a powerful, and refreshing wake-up/breath freshener all-in-one!
Citrus oils like lemon and wild orange as mentioned above, as well as the citrus bliss blend, lime, bergamot, and lemon eucalyptus can be great options for boosting mood and increasing your energy. Diffuse them at home, or in your car and office to keep you awake and alert and smelling great too! Or rub on the back of your neck and chest to give you an energy bump. (Remember to NEVER put citrus oils on your skin topically if you are going to be in the sun!)
Inside Out Energy!
There are many foods that can help you have more energy like bananas, brown rice and eggs. Where I really notice a difference though is in the supplements I take. I take the Life Long Vitality pack morning and night and here is what I notice:
- More energy to get up and get going with my day.
- Less discomfort in joints and muscles even after a workout.
- Less occurrence of my legs jerking all over the bed at night.
- Deeper, more fulfilling sleep.
So yes, I make sure I take my supplements too…because they help me bridge the gap between the good things I do eat (or sometimes don’t!), and where I might be missing valuable nutrients. I consider these a must for a happy, energetic lifestyle.

Tired of Being Tired? Then Move It!
Last but not least, exercise of some sort will pay off with big dividends in helping you to have more energy. Be aware that you do have to give it a little time to kick in…for example, the first 2-3 weeks you might feel a bit more tired. After that your body will adjust, and you will find yourself feeling better and having more energy. Be gentle with yourself…this is for you. And remember, the best exercise for you is the one YOU WILL DO. So whether it’s hitting the gym, going on a walk or working out in your garage, it’s the moving that matters. Exercise tends to help reduce your stress too, so it’s a win/win!
